Central Coast Corsa Business Meeting Mar. 3

11 Mar

Greetings fellow humans, It’s time for another long anticipated installment of CENTRAL COAST CORSA’S MINUTES OF THE MEETING. I know you’ve all been waiting on pins and needles to hear the latest exploits of our intrepid little club. So, sit back, grab a beverage of your choosing, and prepare to never get back the next 12 minutes of your life that it will take to read this note. You are welcome.

RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS WHO MADE THE TREK:

Jason Thompson- male model in hiding

Bill Marks- treasurer/carpet bagger

Bob O’- fashion queen

Bob Galli- resident Corvair god

Jim Pennell- El Jeffe, and reformed hippie

Mike Thomas- juke box hero

Don Hemwall- silver fox

Ed and Charlotte Roberts-beauty and the beast

Zac Mathis- lowly scribe and scourge of the central coast

SACKS O’ MONEY:

Bill says we have tons. More specifically, we have $5760.45 burning a hole in our collective pockets. Fees have been paid for park rental, lodge rental, etc, etc for Vairfest.

OLD BUSINESS:

Let’s just keep it in the past. Nothing to see hear, move along.

WHICH BRINGS US TO VAIRFEST:

This Folks, is once again the hot topic of the meeting. Lots to be aware of here. There will be a quiz later.

Linework for the t-shirts, flyers, etc. are being finalized and sent off to the printers . Waiting for projected costs on t-shirts, but should be in line with ’09 pricing give-or-take.

T-shirts. We are going to order an equal amount of pocket vs. non-pocket shirts in all sizes. 6 each of the XL’s (for the beef-eaters out there): 9 ea. of the large (good ole ‘mericans): 3 ea. of the mediums (women, children and the under-nourished. Jeez, grab a snack already)

Awards. Don will handle the awards as he was forward-thinking in ’09 when he ordered enough extra supplies, then, to do the awards in ’11. See, we don’t give these GOLDEN BLOWER awards away to just anyone. Don’s been plotting for over two years now to snag the top prize. Forward thinking, people, forward-thinking. Just saying.

Wine Tour. Slight change in the line-up. We will now be going to Laeticia winery and Wolff winery, both located in Arroyo Grande (or mostly, anyways.) Still leaving from the same start destination, still on the same Sunday, still stopping for the same lunch break, still beats a stick in the eye.

Website. Bob O’ will work on updating the website to keep all the Vairfest content at the front and easy to find for everyone.

BBQ. Chuck is still tapped to bring his meat-burner-on-wheels. Don will head up the ceremonial burning of the meat.

Movie. We need input, peeps. Still mulling around choices to rival Mr Hollands’ Opus from ’09. A tall order, indeed, due to all the Corvair content. Put on your thinking caps, everyone. Check out: IMCDB.com for a huge listing and ranking system.

Door Prize. We have coerced Charlotte, once again, to create one of her fabulous quilts as a door prize. Also, $150.00 prize to be given away inside of a Ghiradelli Chocalate tin, donated by Charlotte as well. The tin, not the money; let’s not get crazy people.

OTHER BIG NEWS:

We still need ideas for other door prizes to put in the raffle. Nothing cheap here, folks. We want good prizes here, not your Grandma’s fine china good, but still something other humans will want to take home. Your thinking caps should still be firmly placed from pondering the movie dilemma (you were pondering the movie dilemma, weren’t you…), so think of what you would want to win as a prize. We are ignoring the previous years’ $20.00 spending cap, so broaden your horizons.

Paulo Gali won the attendance prize, but he wasn’t present. Ironic, isn’t it? So $10.00 in cold-hard American money was rolled over in the pot for another lucky member next meeting.

One last, small thing. If you’re reading this, and I hope you are, you will see this on our beautiful website only from now on. Bob O’ and Catherine have put a lot of time into building and maintaining the website, so for all your Central Coast Corsa needs just log on. Whenever you want to. As many times as you want to. It’s free. We will no longer be sending an e-mail of the minutes every month to everyone, when it is so easily available at our own website. Embrace the change, people.

REALLY, REALLY BIG NEWS:

No, Really. With Vairfest looming upon us so quickly it was decided to squeeze an extra meeting in before VF. So April’s meeting will really be on: MARCH 31st at Bob O’s house AND another meeting will be held on APRIL 14th at Jim Pennell’s house. See you there. Be good humans.

Central Coast Corsa Business Meeting

18 Jan

CENTRAL COAST CORSA

BUSINESS MEETING, 01.07.11

Our first meeting of the year was held at the O’Briens abode. In attendance were: Jim Pennell, Bob and Katherine O’Brien, Bill Marks, Zac Mathis, Don Hemwall, Bob Galli, Ed and Charlotte Roberts, Jackie Chess, and Mike Thomas.

Treasurer’s Report- No treasurer’s report at this time. Jackie and Bill will be meeting at the bank, at a future date, to transfer Treasurer status over to Bill.

Announcements- The club also wants to thank Jackie and Charlotte for their tireless work for the club as treasurer and secretary. We wish them well in their future endeavors.

Don Hemwall was also officially given the Golden Blower Award, the most prestigious award this side of the Rio Grande, since he was absent at the x-mas dinner/meeting.

Vairfest- This, folks, was the meat of the meeting. Prior Vairfest finances were discussed to assist with the upcoming 2011 VF. We also nailed down times and an agenda for VF. It looks like it’s going to shake out, thusly:

Fri- Hospitality/Registration: 3:00-6:00pm

Dinner: 6:00-10:00pm

Sat- Registration: 7:30am

Cars parked/placed: 8:00-9:00am

Car show starts at: 9:00am

Awards Presentation: 3:00-4:00pm

Raffle: 4:00 until we run out of prizes

BBQ Dinner: 4:30pm

Other Stuff- The other big news topic at the meeting was the discussion of the future direction of the club. The collective club agreed that the meetings were getting a bit stale, and veering away from the Corvair as the focal point of the club. We are called Central Coast Corsa, not Central Coast Potato Salad Exchange, after all…

Don made a motion, and was 2nded by Jackie, to have a rotating meeting schedule where we would alternate between the Thurs night dinner, a weekend tech session, and a weekend outing/drive/tour. It was agreed that changes won’t take place until after Vairfest to allow the club time to concentrate on VF. Motion carried and the world smiled. We will try to plan a schedule a few months in advance to allow for any time conflicts.

That’s it peeps, start thinking of places to go, and things to fix on your car. Also, it’s time to pay up the all-important dues. Your wallet should be $12.00 lighter by the next meeting. Don was the only one sporting the big bucks to pay up on time. Kudo’s to you-Don Hemwall!

Next Meeting-

Feb 3rd, (6:00pm) at Jim’s house at: 544 Stanton Rd., Arroyo Grande, California, Earth.

March 3rd, (6:00pm) at Mike Thomas’ dwelling at: Some place in Atascadero. Sorry, don’t have Mike’s address at the present time.
