CENTRAL COAST CORSA

BUSINESS MEETING October 7, 2010

The potluck dinner meeting was held at the home of Don Hemwall and led by President, Jim Pennell.

Also in attendance were Christy Barton (visiting from Nevada City), Jackie Chess, Bob Galli, Bob O’Brien, Ed & Charlotte Roberts, Chuck Smith, Mike Thomas and Don & Bev Weaver.

Treasurers Report: Jackie Chess

Beginning balance: checking account – $1,303.57, CD – $5,060.80

Income: raffle $23.00, CD $5,087.91.   Expenses: none

Ending balance: checking account – $6,391.48

We earned $64.91 @ 1.29% on the 12 month CD

We were charged 9.95 a monthly service charge in error which was corrected

If we maintain a $1,500.00 balance we will not be charged a monthly service charge.

Tax Identification Number – how do we handle this situation of no record of the number?

If we question the IRS we may open up a problem. We are registered as an un- incorporated association, not a non-profit. Jackie will contact Corsa to question proper registration.

Jim Pennell has a lead on a 1961 Lakewood for sale $400. It runs but needs a lot of work + windshield.

Newsletter committee, Corey, Hemwall, O’Brien, Thomas has not met.

 

Vairfest:

Bob O’Brien reported that Lake Atascadero Park now charges $700 to use the park for show & BBQ.

AARP Building is available April 29, 30, May 1st 2011. A BBG area in the park can be rented for $50.

Discussion took place of doing the car show in the parking lot with concern of holding spaces.

Alternate locations were discussed and will be followed up on.

Masonic Hall & parking lot, Arroyo Grande: Don Weaver to check & report to Jim.

Other A.G venues: Strother Park, Protégées Hall and the Odd Fellows Hall, in SLO.

Outdoor venues only: Heritage Park in A.G. and Meadow View at Biddle Ranch.

If a location becomes possible an e-mail vote amongst members could take place to save time.

CALLING ALL CORVAIRS!

Hosted by the San Diego Corvair Club, the

GWFBT is being held in Palm Springs on Friday- Sunday, October 29, 30, 31, 2010. The main show day and banquet is on Saturday. The Show, Toss, and Swap Meet are being held at Sunrise Park.  Plan on attending!

SCC is in charge of the Fan Belt Toss games, and there will be a prize of two $25 gift cards for the winning team. Come on out, join a team, and have some fun!

Raffle tickets are on now sale for the 1964 Monza 110 4-speed convertible that is being completely re-stored for the GWFBT. The winning ticket will be drawn Saturday night at the banquet, held at the Holiday Inn. You do not need to be present to win. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Send your check or money order to:

BUSINESS MEETING September 3, 2010

The potluck dinner meeting was held at the home of and led by President, Jim Pennell.

In attendance were Jackie Chess, Bob Galli, Don Hemwall, Bill Marks, Zac Mathis, Ed & Charlotte Roberts, Mike Thomas and new members Eric McDaniel and Jason Thompson. We welcome Eric of Nipomo who owns a 1961 Lakewood that is soon to be a daily driver. Also Jason of Arroyo Grande who owns a 1963 convertible that needs fixing.

Business:

The July 8th meeting at the Roberts ended up being just a social with no business transacted. Although

a drawing for door prizes took place yielding $13 of which $5 went to the attendance pot of $55

since Greg Vargas was not there.

The August meeting was cancelled due to the lack of attendance.

Newsletter committee, Corey, Hemwall, O’Brien, Thomas has not met.

All were reminded that Jim Pennell is willing to have a Tech Session when ever folks are ready to set

a weekend date. Zac suggested a Tech Session on carburetor synchronization.

Vairfest:

Per Jim Pennell Bob O’Brien has an application for Lake Atascadero Park and has confirmed the AARP

Building is available April 29, 30, May 1st 2011. We need confirmation to post on the website.

Bob Galli has agreed to handle registration. Don Hemwall will head the BBQ committee.

Income: $23, 4/19 raffle. Expenses none

Ending balance, 5/7 bank statement: checking account – $1,269.57, CD – $5,312.87

May raffle will be deposited with June’s. CD @ 1.29%, due 9/8/10.

Vintage Corsa of Orange County announces Corvair Heritage Day a new worldwide Corvair event.

To be held October 2, 2010 coinciding with the Corvair’s official birthday. Local chapters are free to coordinate any organized event of their choice to mark the occasion. Registration of $20 provides an event t-shirt and magnetic dash plaque and all proceeds will benefit the Corvair Society of America.

Registration deadline is August 1st. Event flyer, registration form and procedures were included.

Correction to the minutes of May 8th: The gold/black license plates were received by Jim Pennell.

Newsletter committee, Corey, Hemwall, O’Brien, Thomas:

Mike reported they will attempt a conference call meeting June 23rd.

Vairfest: Jim Corey will ask Bob O’Brien to check availability of Lake Atascadero and the AARP Building for May 2011.

For sale: ’65 Monza Coup, 110 horsepower, power glide, new interior, good paint and aluminum wheels. Asking price is $6,500. If interested call 805-215-4490 (information from Bill Marks).

A Tech Session was presented by Bob Galli discussing modification of the engine top cover,

the steel baffle plates and elimination of one of two gaskets.

The raffle raised $26 of which $5 went into the attendance pot that is now $50 since Alma Quesnel was not in attendance.

Meeting date moved back 1 week due to the 4th of July holiday.
